CALL FOR DDV VOLUNTEERS
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Data Duplication Village is looking for volunteers for the 2019 DEF CON 27 at Ballys in Las Vegas, NV for Thursday, August 8th through Sunday, August 11th.
We’re a volunteer run village, put on by and for the community, and were working hard to keep the distribution of information free. Since we don’t charge for our services, some costs are covered by DefCon itself but we rely only on our Volunteers to help prepare and run the village.
We need good, reliable folks to help us keep the village free. We have Volunteer opportunities for set-up on Thursday, drive intake, ongoing operations, all the way through tear-down on Sunday.
No experience is needed! We will show you the ropes and teach you everything you need to know about the position you can volunteer for.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old (or 16 with a parent on site and permission). While exceptions can be made for younger children working with their parents (but both have to volunteer for and work the shift) you must reach out to volunteer(at)dcddv.org before signing up to make arrangements.
Volunteers will need to work a minimum of six hours in 2-4 hour shifts.
Volunteers are needed for several positions from helping to run A/V equipment, escorting speakers, general setup, drive intake, drive metrics tracking, line management, answering participant questions, and other things, all with a smile and a helping attitude. Here are some examples of the types of positions we’ll need to fill:
10am-12pm - Line intake 1
10am - 2pm - Line intake 2
10am -12pm - Drive processing 1
10am -2pm - Drive processing 2
12pm - 4pm - Line intake 3
12pm - 4pm - Talk wrangler 1
12-4pm - Setup 1
2-4pm - Setup 2
4-6pm - Line intake 1
4-6pm - Drive processing 1
4-8pm - Line intake 2
4-8pm - Drive processing 2
All volunteers will receive:
A special volunteer DDV badge (not valid for DefCon entry)
+1 to the Saturday night pool party (ok - everyone is invited to that anyway)
Volunteers may receive:
A human DefCon badge (yes, that’s valid for DefCon entry) but this is highly dependent on availability and other unseen forces at work.
If you volunteer for at 8 hours or more you will also an invitation to the volunteer appreciation dinner on Friday evening and an undisclosed token of our gratitude.
